Here's an interview with futurist Alvin Toffler talking about his last book, Revolutionary Wealth. For over 45 years, Alvin and his wife Heidi have been giving a heads up about future issues to anyone who would listen. What really sucks is that most of our prominent business leaders and politicians didn't listen. So now we're dealing with stuff the Tofflers were talking about 30 or 40 or more years ago. Alvin Toffler died June 27th, 2016, at the age of 87. Since he was the actual writer of the couple's ideas, it's unlikely any new books will come out, unless they were real close to finishing one.
"We're going through something historic and people don't recognize it."
-Alvin Toffler
This really bums me out, because I've read three of their books, and listened to about every lecture and interview on You Tube. The Tofflers were by no means perfect in all their hundreds of ideas about the future, but they gave great insight to dozens and dozens of the issues that the U.S., and the world, is now facing, and will continue to face for decades to come. In this time where books about future trends, business and technology are virtually outdated by the time they are published, the ideas the Tofflers wrote about 30 or 40 years ago still resonate strong today.
Their books, lectures, and a TV show influenced decision makers around the world. Yet here in the U.S., so many of our leaders pretty much ignored them. We're all paying the price economically and socially for not listening closer to this couple who dedicated their lives to educating people about the effects and challenges of our rapidly changing world.
If you want to learn about many of the societal and economic issues that we'll all be dealing with for the rest of our lives, check out their books or talks or interviews online.
